Night Questions - Foreword/Chapters 1-3

Hi guys!

Today we will be beginning one of the most compelling stories you may ever read - Night by Elie Wiesel. The story, a semi-autobiographical account of Wiesel's experiences during the Jewish Holocaust of World War II, is told through the eyes of a character named Eliezer. Eliezer is essentially Weisel himself, but there are a few minor changes that were made by the author to help create a more tolerable distance from the horrific events that he experienced during the war.

Over the course of the next five school weeks, we will read the novel and analyze a series of questions relating to the novel, themes, context, plot structure, and characterization within it. We will also be responsible for creating an art project relating to the work and taking an essay-based final on the novel.

For the question section of the assessment, you will be required to complete questions for three sections of the book - Foreword/Chapters 1-3, Chapters 4-6, and Chapters 7-9 and post reading. Please post your answers as a blogspot response, ensuring that you complete each question with a significant amount of care. Remember to answer in full sentences, restating the question in your answer, and include quotes to support your responses where appropriate. If you will be unable to post by the given date, which will occur the Monday after the section is assigned, then you are responsible for submitting a handwritten copy of the questions and answers.

Good luck!
