1.The universe that Jerry lives in is very sick and twisted. People do things because some people tell them to. They think that it makes them cooler or proves how loyal they are to someone. When really it just makes them look uncool or dorky. People in Jerry’s world try to hard to be liked. His world is crazy he has so much to do just to be on top that it is ridiculous. His world is very well describes the universe that Jerry lives in.

3.The Chocolate War is started all because one person doesn’t want to sell chocolates. All Brother Leon had to do was accept the fact that Jerry didn’t want to sell the chocolates instead of dragging it out into something bigger than what it is. At first when Jerry says “No” everyone is in shock, but later n most people realize that this is a Vigil assignment they kind of relax about it but when the ten days are up people are in shock about Jerry’s no once again. People don’t understand that Jerry is an outsider and doesn’t always play by the normal rules he is a different person then the others.

READING QUESTIONS PART 2:

1. Jerry would be out there a real hard head. He is very stubborn with the chocolate sells and he thinks that he has the right to boss everyone around and do whatever he pleases.
2. The Goober is a very nice and loyal person, or so he seems to me. He is very well rounded and has a good head on his shoulders.
3.Paul’s troubles with selling chocolate is that no one will by his candy in which he is selling. “Tubs” problems selling chocolate is that no one will by his as well. He is trying to sell his chocolates so that he is able to get good things for his girlfriend for her birthday.
4. The major conflict in this story would have to be the conflict of Jerry saying no every morning to the chocolate sells when Brother Leon calls his name. Every time jerry says no everyone’s heart drops.
5. He tells Brother Jacgues about the trigger word so that he is not lost in what is going on in his classroom.
6.Part of the reason is because of the way that Brother Leon treats some of his students, such as Bailey. He also kind of likes the feeling that he gets from saying “No” every morning at roll call.
7.Mental stress can lead to physical stress because if you think about something and how bad it hurts then it can only make that pain hurt worse. Physical stress can also lead to mental stress. If something hurts really bad and you think about it a lot then it can be stuck on your brain and you will think about it and worry about that pain more than anything else. Which can stress a person out.
8. The Vigils in my opinion should be left alone. They pretty much are in my school. With all of the different cliques that are in our school a person is forced to do something pretty much everyday to show how bad they want something.
9. The other students kind of just ignore The Vigils. When stuff happens that is caused by The Vigils the other kids just kind of look past it like they know what is going on. The chocolate sells and Jerry dining the chocolate every morning is probably the only thing that the other students have really paid attention to.
10. The antagonist of this novel would have to be Brother Leon. In my opinion he is the one who makes things worse. He forces the chocolate sell onto the boys like it is the end of the world if they don’t do it. He is the one who makes the biggest deal out of Jerry’s “No” every morning. I believe that he is the antagonist of this novel.
